Fluid film or hydrodynamic bearings employ a thin film of pressurized lubricant between two precision bearing surfaces to prevent metal-to-metal contact. Designed for use in large electrical generators and motors, turbines, compressors, pumps and other applications that demand extreme reliability, these hydrodynamic bearings offer significant advantages over large roller bearings in high-load, high-speed applications. Large fluid film bearings are designed to replace traditional roller bearings.

Our Custom Fluid Film Bearings meet all DIN/ISO standards and are designed for extreme conditions. Custom solutions can include purpose built welded housings, oil lubricated composite bearing shells, complete oil supply systems, monitoring of bearing temperature and oil flow, sea water resistance, and other custom-engineered solutions.

Our Custom Fluid Film Bearings are available in pedestal, mid-flange and end-flange configurations and mounting frames in sizes 7 through 112 for shaft diameters from 55 mm to 1,400 mm. In addition to offering standard sizes, we can design and manufacture Custom Fluid Film Bearings for thrust blocks, radial inserts, and axial inserts.
